We had a short but busy week in Kindergarten. We learned about the 5 senses in science. We did a milk explosion experiment. We also used our 5 senses to determine whether the containers had salt or sugar in them. We will continue working on the 5 senses next week.
In reading, we continued working on the letters in the alphabet and the sounds that they make. We are isolating beginning and ending sounds in words and also working on rhyming words. We read several alphabet stories including Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, Eating the Alphabet, Shiver Me Letters and The Alphabet Mystery.
In math, we began compare numbers from 0-5. We compared sets to see which one is bigger/more or fewer/less. We also looked for the number that is missing in a sequence. The children played several games where they rolled the dice and made sets. They had fun playing Fill the Chutes and Guess the Missing Number.
In writing, we are learning to draw people and add detail to our pictures. Some students are labeling and some students are writing words to match their pictures. Our sight words this week were "can" and "like".
Thank you to all of the grandparents that came to lunch today. Your grandchildren really enjoyed spending this special time with you.
Here are some of the fun activities we did this week.
